I am an aspiring film editor that has come to embrace the fact that I am on the autism spectrum. Though I originally viewed this fact about myself as a burden, I now realize how much of an important role it has played in my successes in life. The most important quality of this is that it has allowed me to become a very visually-oriented person with great attention to detail. This is strongly reflected in my affinity for film and is played out in my exceptional skill in editing. As such, it has allowed me to create and refine highly impactful films and embrace the important visual aspects of editing and filmmaking. My motivation to work as an editor is not driven by the desire to simply make a statement about myself or my opinions, but by my passion for the craft. As someone who is visually-oriented with a great attention to detail, I personally view editing as an artistic, creative form of visual expression. Most importantly, I wish to be able to do something that allows me to keep film and TV as a part of my life, because they have shaped me into who I am. And I find that the pleasure of this doesn’t come from the story or genre, but just from the activity of being able to create art that holds meaning for others.
